Celebrations for 900 years of St Kyneburgha

St Kyneburgha

Talks, music, feasting and more – anniversary celebrations for the ancient church at Castor are gathering pace, and everyone is invited!

Save the date! The dedicated team of volunteers behind 2024’s epic, 900-year celebrations of St Kyneburgha’s in Castor have released more details on what you can enjoy throughout the coming year. More will be announced, but for now, make sure you create room in your schedules for a whole host of unique, unmissable events!

Summer
The end of June promises a wonderful mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Highlights include a very special guest to talk politics, society and more on the 6th, the Fergus Black Trio at the church on the 23rd, a talk by the BBC’s Dr Jonathan Foyle on the 26th, and a quiz night, a talent show, and ‘Stories from the Stone’ for children across the weekend of the 29th, 30th and 31st.

July picks up the pace with a Viking, Saxon and Norman-themed sports day on the 6th (with food, drink and stalls for those who prefer that kind of thing), followed by an incredible party night – with very special guest DJ, TBC.

Autumn and winter
A more mellow vibe, but no less exciting – a specially commissioned operetta will be premiered at the church across 3rd to 5th October. As 2024 comes to a close, the public are warmly invited to a village celebration culminating in the unveiling of a brand-new wall hanging, commemorating the community, its church – and another happy, successful 900 years to come!
