[prev]… singer/songwriter/guitarist with King Kool] came up with the Attica Live branding idea. We feel it demonstrates clear intent when it comes to longevity and commitment to those who value live music.’

It can now be revealed that Attica Live will also be sponsoring The Willow Festival, and that there will be an Attica Live Stage at the event – one of seven stage areas. ‘If you wish to promote your business via an event in the City,’ says Mark, ‘then The Willow Festival offers the largest public attendance of any throughout the year. In my opinion the club could not receive a better profile than being a supporter of TWF 2014. Attica Live manager John Scriven agreed with me and took the proposal to the club’s owner, who didn’t hesitate to give the sponsorship his blessing.’

No-one knows more than Mark when it comes to the local live music scene

There will be seven stages at The Willow Festival in 2014 and six of those have attracted sponsors, with a seventh potential sponsor currently in negotiations. The Sun, Attica Live, Travelchoice, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and GP Print will all have stages named after them at TWF 2014.

There’s another, more obvious crossover, too. The fact is, no one knows more than Mark when it comes to the local live music scene – nor understands the local audience better. To date Attica Live has already showcased a dazzling array of live music acts from various genres with great success, including Let’s Meet Jesus, The Gangsters, King Kool, Laurette Evelyn, Thumpermonkey, Lexie Green, Cameltoe, Blue Print, Kerry Devine and The Deltaphonics. But what does the future hold?

‘We intend to add a few more live dates per month and have already booked The Houndogs, Groove Cartel, Burning Codes, Fred’s House, Motor City Vipers, Rattleshack, The Soul Runners and many more. The future for Attica Live looks very bright indeed, and with an eclectic mix of quality acts. We hope to sustain the support the club is already enjoying and use that to build from.’ And if you want more, well, in July Mark will be putting on a small thing called the Willow Festival, featuring 160 or so bands on seven stages for a total audience of around 80,000. Several of the names gracing The Willow Festival stages will also be playing at Attica Live, so why not head to the Embankment for arguably the UK’s finest free entertainment, and if you like what you hear, check out the Attica Live line up. And if you’re already a fan of Attica Live… Well, you already know what to do when 11 July comes around.

The Willow Festival
11-12-13 JULY 2014, THE EMBANKMENT, PETERBOROUGH
After the huge success of The Willow Festival in 2013, the live music extravaganza returns in July 2014 with the support of Peterborough City Council and sponsors.

Willow Festival is a free to enter, family-orientated live music festival, taking place on purpose-built stages located on the Embankment. The three day event attracted a footfall of 82,000 visitors in 2013 and continues to be one of the city’s premier arts events, showcasing 160 live bands and solo acts. The Willow Festival’s mission is to provide a platform (well, several, actually) for emerging talent, and is firmly focused on unsigned or new acts of all genres. All of the music at the festival is played live. As organizer Mark Ringer puts it: ‘no faking it, miming or boy/girl bands with backing tracks’. So, if you’re into live music of all types, this is an event you should love. Acts for 2014 are due to be announced on the festival’s official website in May. Other attractions include an extreme ride fairground, kids fair, art and crafts demonstrations, food village, alternative and exotic market, fair price bars and ‘general silliness’. Camping is available adjacent to the main festival arena.
