The Cresset: A Show For All Seasons
It’s been a hectic spring season at The Cresset, with some bumper audiences and fantastic shows. As the nights draw out, we’ve still got plenty of live entertainment to keep you going. Believe it or not, we’re also casting our eyes towards the autumn season and, dare we say it, Christmas! The autumn/winter What’s On guide will be released in early July, and as usual there’s plenty of quality live entertainment to go around, culminating in our spectacular Christmas pantomime, Peter Pan. Sign up to our mailing list on the website (www.cresset.co.uk) to guarantee your copy!
Before that we’re busy celebrating the Queen’s jubilee, with a fantastic project. Supported by the National Lottery Communities fund, Our Queen’s Story has seen us work with over a dozen local primary schools to produce performance pieces depicting moments from the Queen’s life. At time of writing, we haven’t seen any of them yet, but keep an eye on our website and social channels for news of an exhibition planned for July to allow everyone to view the fantastic work done by young people across the city.
Of course, there’s shows-a-plenty coming up too, with musical tributes including Frankie Valli, George Michael, and the best of Motown, as well as a twinkle-toed spectacular from Strictly’s Anton and Giovanni, and family entertainment shows The Queen’s Knickers and Jurassic Live. As always, there’s even more to browse and book online at cresset.co.uk
Finally, we’re delighted to announce The Cresset’s Summer School is back! It’s being held between August 8 and August 12, and will see young performers taking part in acting, singing, and dance/movement workshops with industry professionals throughout the week, culminating in a Friday evening performance of Jukebox Musicals. The summer school is open to all young people of ages 7-16 but places are limited, so book early. You can register your place and sign up at cresset.co.uk/performing-arts
