Springtime at The Cathedral

Continuing in its mission to provide a welcoming, exciting space for everyone, the Cathedral promises a spring season packed with events to suit everyone!

The Best of Hans Zimmer & Film Favourites Illuminated
Thursday 7 March, 7–8.15pm and 9.30–10.45pm

A feast for the eyes and ears, as the Cathedral hosts the London Film Music Orchestra playing movie favourites by Hans Zimmer, John Williams and more. The interior of the Cathedral will be bathed in a colourful and immersive light display to accompany the music, and audiences have the opportunity to attend an early or a later evening performance on the day. Favourite pieces will include music from the Indiana Jones movies, Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator and more.

Embroidery workshopEmbroidery Workshop for Beginners
Friday 8 March, 10.30am–4pm

Learn a new skill in beautiful surroundings, and have something to take home at the end of it! Find out how to design and make, taking inspiration from the Cathedral grounds, and work on your own project to keep – or give away! All materials will be provided, as will break refreshments and lunch. The course leaders are Elaine Harburn and Caroline Hawkins, both of whom have extensive embroidery and teaching experience.

Remarkable Women Tour
Friday 8 & Saturday 9 March, 11.30am–4pm each day

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Cathedral are offering 90-minute tours during the weekend to highlight the courage, ingenuity and leadership just some of the extraordinary women associated with the building have shown across the centuries. Uncover some of the history you may not have been taught at school, and perhaps get inspired to become your own Remarkable Woman!

The Sixteen: Choral Pilgrimage 2024
Saturday 20 April 7.30–10pm

The Cathedral welcomes back firm favourites, The Sixteen, for their annual choral pilgrimage. This year’s concert will feature music by Orlande de Lassus (1532- 1594), perhaps best known for his magpie approach to music whereby he took phrases and scraps from different composers (including himself) and ancient plainsong to create fresh and sophisticated pieces. His music will feature alongside works by Josquin, Casulana and Bob Chilcott.

Jazzie BJazzie B DJ Set
Saturday 27 April, 5–11pm

An absolute treat for clubbers of all ages, DJ royalty visits Peterborough this April in the form of Jazzie B – perhaps best known to club-goers for his association with Soul II Soul back in the 1980s, and as a pioneer of the UK soul, R&B and hip hop club scene. Starting at a suitably Gen X-friendly time of 5pm (and running to a slightly more daring 11pm), attendees can expect highlights from Jazzie B’s extraordinary back catalogue, plus an expertly curated playlist of some of the best in dance music.
