A new production from a brand new theatre group – Stamford Showstoppers!

Back in September local performer Nicola Sandall formed a brand new group of amateur singers and actors, Stamford Showstoppers, when a rare opportunity presented itself to produce the amazing Broadway and West End musical Chicago. Nicola has been appearing in and producing musicals and plays in the Stamford and Rutland area for nearly forty years and couldn’t pass up the chance to get stuck into Chicago. ‘Chicago, including well known songs like All That Jazz, Razzle Dazzle and Mr Cellophane, is one of those shows when you say the name everyone knows the songs and infamous sexy Fosse dance moves,’ says Nicola. ‘We grabbed the rights with both hands and went straight to the Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre who have been extremely supportive of our new venture.’

When recruiting started for Stamford Showstoppers there was no shortage of local performers eager to be part of the fabulous Chicago. Now deep into rehearsals this talented group can’t wait to bring you their debut performance and spread some Razzle Dazzle magic over the town. Just before Christmas they gave a ‘sneaky peek’ of the show to a supportive group of patrons at their Christmas get together as a special thank you. Nicola adds: ‘We are having so much fun at rehearsals that sometimes we forget when it’s time to go home!’
