Go Green, have fun – and cut costs!

Green Festival

This year’s festival (now 22!) will be based on the principle of “One Planet Living”, whilst celebrating PECT’s 20th birthday!

The festival is co-ordinated by PECT, and made possible by sponsorship from local businesses and donations. This year’s headline sponsor is Ringway who have shown a true commitment to maintaining the road network around Peterborough and more recently the improvements to Peterborough’s city centre.

The Launch

The festival will kick off this year with a city centre launch on Saturday May 25th, showcasing everything that is fun and exciting about being green. PECT will be transforming the city centre with a picnic area made from artificial turf, a junk band, a cycle powered sound system, cooking demos, circus performers and lots of stalls and prizes!

Eight days of Fun

Each of the next eight days will centre around one of the One Planet Living principles:
Zero Carbon, Sustainable Water, Zero Waste, Land use and Wildlife, Sustainable Transport, Culture and Community, Local and Sustainable Materials, Equity and Local Economy, Local and Sustainable Food, Health and Happiness.

Bringing together community groups, charities and businesses, events will range from picnics, to pond dipping, to film screenings, to swishes (clothes swapping events).
