Riverford celebrates success as Best Organic Retailer at The Natural and Organic Awards

Riverford has been awarded Best Organic Retailer 2013 at The Natural and Organic Awards 2013, hosted in association with the Soil Association. The Peterborough based organic delivery company was recognised for its on-going commitment to making high-quality organic food available to a wide range of people. It’s not the first time Riverford has taken home the award, winning previously in 2009 and 2010.

The awards were presented by Michaela Strachen of BBC’s Spring and Autumn Watch at the Natural and Organic Products show held at the Novotel London West. Now in its eighteen year, the annual ceremony recognises and celebrates the organic industry’s most innovative businesses and products.

In the retail category, Riverford was shortlisted with Waitrose and Field Fayre, The Organic Store. On why Riverford was awarded, Rob Sexton, CEO, Soil Association Certification, said: “Riverford – for their continuing focus on a simple business model done exceptionally well and with organic at its core – for broadening the appeal of cooking from scratch and for their innovative approach to inspiring their customers to try new things and embrace seasonal, organic food.”

Jon Day, who helps to run Riverford’s farm at Sacrewell just outside Peterborough, said: “We are really proud of this award – it is recognition of our unwavering pursuit of the best tasting organic food, sourced from suppliers we know and trust.”
