Agile On Tap brings together technology and engineering experts

A new group has been established to bring together like-minded technology and engineering experts from across the city, in a bid to help promote Peterborough as a leading IT destination

Sponsored by major local digital brand, comparethemarket.com, Agile Peterborough held its first community event, “Agile on Tap”, at the Brewery Tap on Wednesday 20 March.

The event saw guest speakers from London-based technology consultancy, Thoughtworks, as well as comparethemarket.com, covering topics such as ‘The Journey Into Agile Development’ and ‘Building the Millennium Falcon’.

Technology and Engineering professionals from businesses across the city – including Travelex, British Sugar, Ideal Shopping, Kiddicare, BGL Group and ADP, were also in attendance.

Alex Shaw, Technology Advocate and Founder of Agile Peterborough, commented:

Agile Peterborough has been established as an independent group, which enables like-minded technology, software and engineering professionals to meet and share knowledge and best practice. The growth of Peterborough has seen lots of companies either moving to the city, or expanding their operations, which has opened up more software and technology roles than ever before. It’s this growth that has led to a steady increase of talented and enthusiastic people enhancing a local knowledge base and fuelling the demand for this kind of community

Not only will Agile Peterborough be a forum for sharing ideas, it will also give people a chance to regularly hear from leading brands and independent experts, along with running technical events and working with local schools to promote Technology and Engineering careers. There is a real appetite amongst the technology community to come together to share ideas and at the same time we want to help promote Peterborough as a destination for forward-thinking experts who are leading the way on all things digital
