The Lady in the Van (matinee)

Sat 20th April 2019 2:30 pm

This warm and funny play is the story of The Lady, Miss Shepherd, who proudly lived in her increasingly distasteful camper van and how she inexplicably arrived in Alan Bennett’s driveway. He expected it to be for a couple of months. She stayed 15 years. As usual Bennett surrounds the main protagonists with characters we all recognise. From the neighbours obsessed with the value of their London property to Alan’s mother who shows a very different view of growing old, and the ambulance man who gets closer to Miss Shepherd than Alan could even imagine. This incredible true story sees an ordinary London street in the 1960s turned upside down by the Lady in the Van. Proudly presented by the long established theatre group Peterborough Mask Theatre.
