Back to the past
As you turn up your central heating and triple-bolt your double glazing against the winter storms, spare a thought for our long-suffering forebears, who had no such luxuries. Another illuminating talk, this time about the Victorian era, takes place at the John Clare Theatre next Wednesday, providing a glimpse of an era and (probably very chilly) people long since passed…

A taste of summer
The sound of leather on willow, warm summer sun, a soft breeze, tea and scones and prizes from the vicar… anyway, that’s all months and months away, sadly, but if you want to get in the mood right now, then Hampton Nets is your very best bet. A friendly cricket club, open to all aged 13 and over, the Club meets every Tuesday to get their various teams in good, bat-wielding, ball-fielding shape for summer. Call Andy McIntyre on 07974 205 845 or email for more information.

Here we go, here we go…
There is no truer way to prove your love for your favourite team than to stand outside on a cold winter’s afternoon, ideally in a bit of a drizzle, watching them play. Express your devotion thusly at POSH’s next home match, against Tranmere Rovers, on Saturday, 18 January.
