Jump around
For children only, which is a shame because I for one would love some trampolining, and suspect I’m not the only grown-up to think this. Trampolining delivers a double-whammy of fitness (efficient): the actual bouncing, and due to the fact that it’s impossible to drink booze, eat chips or smoke while you’re doing it.

Down by the river…
Another barn-storming community play from Eastern Angles, River Lane uses the inspiring story of three modern-day friends to explore the history (both ancient and recent) of this place that we now call Peterborough.

Shivers up the spine
The many and regular readers of this column will know by now that I love a ghost walk, and waste no opportunity to promote them. My current favourite is the one in Stamford, being both a ‘walk’ and an ‘experience’ all in one, plus it’s led by a chap dressed as Michael Keaton in Beetlejuice, which is pretty much the icing on an already impressive cake.

Celebrating Peterborough’s poet
A visionary and artist possessed of a profound talent, and a passionate love for the countryside which often overwhelmed him, John Clare is one of England’s most important poets. To see the manuscripts (as this rare opportunity offers) of a man who lived and felt so vibrantly is to gain just a taste of the energy and insight that fed into his sublime work, and causes him to still be known to us 150 years after his death.
