Pottering about
If you were a Roman in Britain 2,000 years ago and you needed some crockery, it appears that Peterborough was the place to go for it. This fascinating talk illuminates just how important the pottery industry was during the Roman era, to those living in Peterborough – and beyond.

Curioser and curioser
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass are such rich, extraordinary and inimitable texts it’s no wonder that well over 100 years later people are still spellbound by them, using them as inspiration for all manner of different artforms, from films to fashion shoots – even an opera. This lecture celebrates and looks forward to one of the nicest events in the Stamford 2014 calendar: the production at Tolethorpe Hall of Alice in Wonderland (later in the year).
