It’s been another phenomenal year for the city’s award-winning choirs, Peterborough Male Voice Choir, Peterborough Voices and Peterborough Youth Choir, who have performed live on stage at their Broadway Theatre home with musical superstars Black Dyke Band, The Kings Singers and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – not to mention premiering a specially-commissioned Peterborough-inspired work by the acclaimed British composer Errollyn Wallen at St John’s Smith Square in London

The choirs are rounding off 2015 with Christmas Magic, their ever-popular extravaganza of carols and festive music – now in its fifth successful year – which will be at the Broadway Theatre for one night only on Sunday 20 December. An established high-point of the festive season in Peterborough, Christmas Magic sold out well over a month in advance last year – and this year’s performance is also to be broadcast by BBC Radio Cambridgeshire on Christmas Day.

Featuring a full symphony orchestra and hosted by BBC Radio Cambridgeshire’s Jane Smith, Christmas Magic will showcase seasonal favourites including When a Child is Born, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, White Christmas, Santa Baby, O Holy Night, Do You Hear What I Hear and many more, all under the baton of William Prideaux, who says: ‘Christmas is a very special time of year for our three choirs – it’s a wonderful opportunity to put on a great show for our home audience and we’re looking forward to presenting a really memorable evening of festive fun for all the family.’

Christmas Magic is presented in association with Bill Kenwright Ltd, who are bringing a spectacular season of shows to the Broadway Theatre over the Christmas period: Jesus Christ Superstar, And Then There Were None, The Sound of Music, The Cat in the Hat, Miracle on 34th Street, Dreamboats and Petticoats – The Christmas Party, The Glenn Miller Story featuring Tommy Steele and Blood Brothers.

Peterborough Sings! is working in partnership with BIll Kenwright Ltd to secure a positive outcome for the muchloved theatre. Meanwhile, the choirs’ plans for 2016 include competition tours to the Interkultur ‘Isola del Sole’ International Choral Competition in Grado, Italy for Peterborough Male Voice Choir and to the Interkultur International Choral Festival in Calella, Spain for Peterborough Voices. They will also be performing at the Broadway Theatre with the Band of the RAF Regiment on Sunday 6 March and with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in Magic of the Musicals on Sunday 4 September. As always, there’s plenty to look forward to!

Based at the Broadway Theatre, Peterborough Sings! is the city’s unique music education charity, which works weekly with over 250 members in Peterborough Male Voice Choir, Peterborough Voices and Peterborough Youth Choir as well as with hundreds of local schoolchildren through its Arts Council England-funded Singing Strategy.

Christmas Magic is at the Broadway Theatre for one night only on Sunday 20 December. Tickets for Christmas Magic and the Bill Kenwright season are available at the Broadway Theatre Box Office, on 01733 822225 or online at www.thebroadwaypeterborough.co.uk
