A warm welcome in Wadenhoe

Enjoy hearty home-cooked food at the historic Old Barn

The Old Barn in the picturesque riverside village of Wadenhoe is a 17th century former hay barn that mother and daughter team Sylvia and Andrea have sympathetically turned into a venue for breakfast, lunches and afternoon tea. ‘We attract lots of walking groups and cyclists as we have a lovely garden and a decked terrace to seat over 70 people outside and 46 inside,’ says Andrea. Andrea and Sylvia offer hearty homemade meals, including vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan.

There are Pensioners’ Specials Monday to Thursday at £12 per person, which include homemade steak pie or smoked salmon salad and a selection of desserts. The Old Barn is legendary for its truly amazing and delicious selection of homemade cakes to suit all tastes, as well as freshly baked scones with clotted cream and homemade jam (a real summer winner!).

Full traditional afternoon tea is £18 per person, while Mad Hatters tea parties (£20 per head) are very popular for baby showers and hen parties. The Old Barn is in the heart of Wadenhoe, which is one of Northamptonshire’s prettiest villages, set on the banks of the River Nene just half an hour’s drive from Peterborough with beautiful walks and an amazing history.
