Nene Park Trust appoint new Chair Designate

Early this year, Nene Park Trust enlisted the services of Starfish, a specialist recruitment firm, to help with the search for a new Chair of Trustees. Following a humbling response and in-depth recruitment process, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Jackie Bland as our Chair Designate.

We are extremely fortunate to bring Jackie onboard at this pivotal time. Jackie brings a wealth of experience through her 40 year career, spanning a range of sectors, and is passionate about strengthening the connection between the health and enjoyment of individuals and communities and green spaces.

After an early career as a journalist and Government Agency director, Jackie moved to Peterborough in 1994, becoming a regular visitor to Nene Park, and enjoying a busy 22 years as a CEO of national and regional charities including Deafblind UK, Living Sport and Shine.

In 2015, Jackie retrained as a psychotherapist, independently offering leadership mentoring to CEOs and senior staff, whilst serving as a non-executive director and board chair for a charity fundraising company.  Alongside her continued work as a personal psychotherapist to private clients, Jackie works to educate people in the workplace, and in schools, on simple and achievable ways of staying both mentally and physically well, drawing on the learning from her various tenures as director and CEO.

Jon Marsden, Chair of Trustees at Nene Park Trust said “I look forward to working with Jackie over the next few months to ensure a seamless handover. It has been an absolute pleasure to lead the Trust during a period of rapid change and growth. Jackie, together with a very able board of trustees, executive team, employees, volunteers and partner organisations, will continue to care for this wonderful asset which is so highly regarded by city residents and visitors from much further afield.”

Jackie joins Nene Park Trust as a trustee and Chair Designate with immediate effect before officially becoming Chair of Trustees at the AGM in summer 2021 when Jon retires from the board.
