The show must go on!

The Cresset Theatre and Stuart Morrison Productions are delighted to announce a special socially distanced production of their 2020 Christmas Pantomime! Jack and The Beanstalk, the socially distanced pantomime is set to be full of festive family fun, running from 12 to 24 December. Join Jack as he reaches new heights on a giant adventure up the beanstalk – it’s sure to be full of fee, fie, fo, fun!

Audience safety is of course the priority and so the producers and venue have designed a production that is Covid-secure for cast, crew and audiences. The auditorium (which will be disinfected between every performance) will be operating at a reduced capacity; the audience will be seated in their groups at socially distanced tables (with a maximum of 6 people per table); and the production will be smaller and more intimate than previous Cresset pantos – but there’s no doubt that it will have the same pantomime magic!

Other measures in place include a reduced show runtime with no interval to prevent crowding; temperature checks on arrival; preordering options; one-way systems in operation to allow for social distancing, plus the cast and crew will be adhering to government guidelines during all rehearsals and performances. Leading the cast is veteran performer Mike Holoway as King Crumble. Mike’s illustrious career includes three years as Joseph in the West End, numerous TV Credits and as a member of pop group Flintock. He’s also performed in countless pantomimes and productions, and is currently finishing his latest album!

Climbing the beanstalk is Cresset favourite Mitch Hewer, star of TV’s Skins, Britannia High and Casualty who is staring in his fifth Cresset pantomime! Mitch jumped at the chance to return to Peterborough and spread a little festive cheer after such a difficult year. Another familiar face joins the cast in the form of Victoria Jane as Princess Isabelle. Victoria’s credits include CBBC’s Teletubbies, and the smash hit tour of In The Night Garden, as well as tours with Spice Girls and Little Mix tribute shows and many other credits. Vicky is thrilled to be back on stage this Christmas. Keeping things in check as the irrepressible Dame Trott is local actor and producer Phil Norton. As well as starring in local and national pantomimes, Phil’s credits include national theatre tours, and a lot of voice over work, including most recently more hand sanitiser ads than he can count!

Jack’s nemesis, the Giant’s henchman Fleshcreep, will be played by Richard Mann. Richard is an accomplished actor and voice over artist, and has also played Mick Jagger for over 20 years in touring show The Rolling Stones Now so he’s got the moves too! Last but by no means least, and sprinkling some magic over the show is Vanessa Boland, as Fairy Liquid. Vanessa’s successful performing career began right here at The Cresset as a member of the dance company in Aladdin, fifteen years ago. Welcome back Vanessa! Writer and Director Stuart Morrison has been producing Cresset pantomimes for over ten years now, and is looking forward to the challenge of producing a socially distanced show – and all the new jokes that come with it!
