New Season at The Cresset

Autumn 2019 at The Cresset is a packed out season, with tons of amazing shows booked in the diary! Their new What’s On brochure is out now, and it’s full of treats – here’s a taste...

The Cresset is celebrating the music of some of the biggest and best-selling artists out there with some new top-quality tributes, including Oye Santana, the UK No. 1 Winner at the 2018 National Tribute Music Awards; Into The Groove, a dazzling and colourful production celebrating the best of Madonna; and Thank You For The Music, bringing all of ABBA’s biggest hits to the stage!

There are also shows returning to The Cresset stage after hugely successful shows in the past, including Whitney: Queen of the Night, Let’s Hang On, A Vision of Elvis, The Carpenters Story, The Upbeat Beatles and Michael: Starring Ben.

Award-winning, lively Irish band The Wild Murphys take to the stage to capture the spirit of a crazy night out in the live music pubs of the emerald isle with One Night In Dublin, and you can take a trip through time with The Magic of Motown and Sun Records: The Concert both bringing a distinctive sound and tons of nostalgic hits to Peterborough. You can also try something a little bit different by booking tickets to see The Red Hot Chilli Pipers – the most famous bagpipe band on the planet! If you prefer something a little more traditional, you won’t want to miss Brass & Voices – Foden’s Band, one of the best brass bands in the world, performs live on stage for one night only with the city’s own award-winning choirs.

You’ll be laughing out loud at the great selection of comedy shows available – they’re guaranteed to sell out fast so be sure to book your tickets. Coming soon to The Cresset are Rhod Gilbert, Kevin Bloody Wilson, Russell Kane, Ben Elton and Jonathan Pie, as well as three new editions of Peterborough’s longest running Comedy Club, where four up-and-coming comedians have their time in the spotlight.

At The Cresset there really is something for everyone this autumn. MineVention is back for its fourth year and with its new retro zone for older gamers, so the whole family can enjoy this fun-filled event! Later on in the year there’s also the second ever WizCon, a guaranteed magical day out for any Harry Potter fan.

PODS are also back at The Cresset for their latest production – everyone’s favourite flying car is driving right into Peterborough for a fantasmagorical musical for all the family in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Featuring the unforgettable Sherman Brothers score along with plenty of rip-roaring dancing, musical sparkle and even a magical car that flies before your eyes!

Speaking of flying – this October, take a trip into the magical world of In The Night Garden Live, complete with a real Pinky Ponk Air Orb that soars over the heads of audiences! The little ones will love seeing their favourite characters brought to life with full-size costumes, magical puppets, and enchanting music – don’t miss out on this spellbinding production.

Completing the year, as always, is The Cresset’s annual pantomime – this year it’s Cinderella. With the sparkliest sets, the funniest jokes, the catchiest songs, and the ugliest sisters, you’re invited to the most magical pantomime of all – book your tickets early!
