Motorpoint staff raise over £1k for Sue Ryder

Staff at Motorpoint in Peterborough have raised over £1,000 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall by cycling to Monaco – albeit with a difference

Tom Stanton, General Manager at Motorpoint in Peterborough and the 50-strong team have been taking a break from selling cars to do turns in the saddle of a state-of-theart special exercise bike from Bannatyne as they clocked up 852 miles in the showroom of the branch on Edgerley Drain Road. Among the visitors to pop into Motorpoint to give the staff some moral support was Peterborough United Captain Jack Baldwin, who took time out from the busy Sky Bet League One schedule to do his turn on the bike. He was joined on the bike afterwards by Nilesh Patel, Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall and lifelong Peterborough United fan.

‘We’re extremely grateful to Jack for popping into Motorpoint to see us,’ explained Tom Stanton. ‘He’s a busy guy at the moment with the fixtures coming thick and fast so it was great to see him doing a few miles on the bike for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall.’ Motorpoint in Peterborough officially adopted Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall as its charity partner earlier this year. The 20-bed facility, which is based in Longthorpe, cares for people over the age of 18 from in and around the city who are living with a variety of lifelimiting illnesses. Nilesh Patel, Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall, added:

‘We are extremely grateful to the whole team at Motorpoint for everything they are doing for us. They definitely deserved a rest after their efforts cycling their way toMonaco.’ Tom Stanton, General Manager of Motorpoint in Peterborough, said: ‘We are extremely proud to have adopted Sue Ryder as our official charity partner in Peterborough. The amazing work that they do at Thorpe Hall is appreciated by everyone in the city and it will be a privilege to work with them over the coming weeks and months to support their fundraising efforts.’ Nilesh Patel, Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall, added: ‘I am extremely grateful to Motorpoint for adopting us as their official charity partner in Peterborough and at the same time helping to raise greater awareness of the work we do as an organisation among the Motorpoint customer base.’

MOTORPOINT RENEWS STAND SPONSORSHIP WITH PETERBOROUGH UNITED

Motorpoint is to continue sponsoring the Motorpoint Stand at Peterborough United for a further three years

The UK’s largest independent car retailer, which is a long standing partner of the Sky Bet League One club, has agreed to renew its naming rights agreement for the purpose-built 2,500 all-seater stand until the end of the 2019-2020 season. The redevelopment of the former Moy’s End officially opened its doors to fans in March 2014. Motorpoint will also continue to sponsor the First Team Training Wear and the club’s official YouTube channel, Posh TV, over the same period. Motorpoint opened its five acre branch on Edgerley Drain Road in the city in 2007. Based on the Boongate Industrial Estate, the site stocks over 500 cars from over 30 different manufacturers – all available to drive away on the same day. Tom Stanton, General Manager of Motorpoint in Peterborough, said:

‘We are delighted to continue as the naming rights holder for the Motorpoint Stand. We’re big fans of The Posh and can’t wait to cheer on the guys from the Stand over the coming season and look forward to doing our bit to getting Peterborough United back into the Sky Bet Championship.’ Motorpoint in Peterborough recently adopted Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall as its Charity Partner. As part of the agreement a number of the Peterborough United players peddled for all their worth as part of Motorpoint’s ‘Miles to Monaco’ fundraiser at the branch between August 14-20.
