The Peterborough Arena is rapidly becoming the East of England’s go-to exhibitions destination, but as The Business Moment discovers, it’s the ideal venue for any business event – large or small

The gladiatorial-sounding Peterborough Arena was given its new name just two years ago. The result of a rebranding exercise, the Arena looked to launch this versatile business and exhibitions venue into the future, building upon its early success in attracting a number of events to its doors. Judging by the growing number of conferences, exhibitions, and public and trade shows it’s realising its goal, as businesses in Peterborough and beyond sit up and take notice of this formidable resource on their doorstep.

The Peterborough Arena is situated at the East of England Showground, which moved to the current site next to the A1 in 1971. The site is owned by the East of England Agricultural Society, a charity that supports farming locally and nationally. All profits made at the venue are donated back to the Society and used to support agriculture, farming and rural life in general. As well as proving a first port of call for business events, the Arena has become the regular home of many live music concerts, ice shows, antique festivals and faith and family events, attracting more than 800,000 visitors annually. Its 250 acres of outdoor space, truly capacious 4,675m2 exhibition hall, glass-roofed atrium and seven suites offer space for everything from a handful of delegates to thousands of people. Managing director Keith Dalton explains the appeal of his venue: ‘Our choice of seven indoor suites of various sizes, coupled with our exhibition hall and vast outdoor space, means that size isn’t an issue. We already have a portfolio of business customers – both local and national – who enjoy what we have to offer here at Peterborough Arena.’

For individual businesses in the area the suites in particular provide a range of opportunities for off-site meetings, presentations, company dinners, annual general meetings or even the office Christmas party. ‘We believe that we can offer the full package for businesses and companies looking to host their corporate or social event in city,’ says Keith.
