Fancy driving an electric car? Well you can at the Business Travel Choices for Health & Wealth event at Peterborough’s East of England Showground this September.
The event, which is free of charge to attend, is aimed at showing companies how a more sustainable approach to transport could not only save the business money but also improve the health of its employees.
Business Travel Choices for Health & Wealth is part of Travelchoice Week 2013 with events celebrating sustainable travel options across Peterborough from September 14th to 22nd.
This event takes place at The Huntingdon Suite, Peterborough Arena, The East of England Showground, on Tuesday 17th September from 4pm to 7pm.
Electric vehicles are fast becoming a practical alternative for some company fleets, saving money with both running and service costs. A range of the latest electric vehicles will be available to drive including the Renault Twizy, Renault ZOE, Renault Flunce, Renault Kan goo Van and Nissan Leaf.
In order to test drive the electric vehicles visitors are urged to bring their driving licence (both the card and paper parts for new-style licences) with them on the day.
The event will also feature a travel planning seminar, a range of information on the benefits of electric vehicles for businesses, handy cost saving initiatives including car sharing and eco driving, networking opportunities with other Peterborough businesses and a buffet.
Jessica Horrocks, Sustainable Travel Officer for Travelchoice, said: “We’re inviting businesses to come and find out how electric vehicles and other sustainable transport measures such as cycle to work schemes and car sharing can vastly benefit their company.
“We want companies to discover how a more sustainable approach to transport could not only help to reduce the company’s impact on the environment, but also make significant cost savings and improve employees general fitness and health. What’s more, the event is absolutely free of charge to attend so please do sign up today.”
If you’re unable to make it the East of England Showground, then an electric vehicle trial day takes place at The Bluebell, in Glinton, near Peterborough, on Wednesday 18th September from 4pm to 7pm.
This event is part of the Zero Carbon Community Project in Peakirk and Glinton. The two villages have been chosen as trial communities for the European Zecos award. The project explores reducing CO2 emissions across every area of life. If successful, they could be the first villages in Europe to gain a ‘Zero CO2’ award.
The trial day is suitable for families to attend with activities for children and free light refreshments.
