Prior to joining PECT, Carly co-founded Sustainability East, where she led on the delivery of key projects, with a focus on communications and strategic business planning.
As CEO, Ms. Leonard will work alongside the environment charity’s board to deliver its ambitious plans for the future.
Steve Magenis, Chair of the board at PECT, said: “Following a competitive recruitment process, Carly stood out for her exceptional knowledge of the sustainability sector and strong communication and leadership skills.
“PECT has built fantastic momentum over the past 20 years, delivering innovative projects and driving the sustainable development agenda in Peterborough and beyond.
“We truly believe that this is an exciting time for PECT and that along with a strong board and team, Carly will be a driving force behind building on our continued success.”
Speaking on her appointment, Carly Leonard, incoming CEO of PECT, said: “A combination of a strong board and executive team drew me to PECT and I am thrilled to be joining such a passionate and ambitious organisation.
“Delivering truly sustainable cities remains a global challenge – and is something that PECT has tackled head on over the years. The charity has built a tremendous legacy and I am very much looking forward to contributing to its continued success and being a part of an organisation that can deliver real sustainable change.”
The charity’s focus for next three years is to build on its growing reputation of delivering nationally significant projects and increase its reach and impact, while driving the sustainable agenda and influencing national and local policy.
PECT’s mission is to lead and support Peterborough in establishing the city as the UK’s Environment Capital and an exemplar of how to deliver sustainable growth in order to improve the overall quality of life of its people, communities and environment.
