Go Purple And Save Lives

Kidney Research UK is urging local businesses to “Go Purple” throughout the month of March

The colourful campaign aims to raise awareness of one of the UK’s least-known, life-threatening diseases in the run up to World Kidney Day on the 14th March.

According to the national charity, which is based in Peterborough, the number of people being treated for kidney failure in the UK has risen every year since 2006, with more than 51,000 patients now undergoing dialysis or receiving follow-on care for a transplant.

Everyone from office workers to factory hands is being encouraged

to take part by organising purple- themed events. Kidney Research UK has produced a special ‘Purple Pack’ of ideas that can be downloaded free from its website.

Stuart Wyle, Kidney Research UK’s Fundraising Manager for Peterborough, said:

Kidney disease is a truly devastating illness and the number of people affected by it continues to rise by more than five per cent every year. Businesses in Peterborough can help make a real difference to the lives of those with kidney disease by getting behind our campaign to ‘Go Purple’ this March. Any money raised is vital as we’re currently forced to turn down four out of every five proposals for new research projects because we simply don’t have enough money to fund them

Kidney Research UK’s Go Purple

campaign will run throughout March and anyone taking part is encouraged to send photos of their events to:
