Riverford celebrate 25 years with a party

Sat 18th August 2012 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Riverford is an organic veg box company with a local farm at Sacrewell just outside Peterborough. To celebrate their 25th anniversary, Riverford is holding a big party and local people are invited to attend.

It’s completely free to attend and is being held on Saturday 18th August between 10am and 4pm.

The event promises to be a perfect day out for families, featuring live music, performers, and games, as well as a delicious picnic which will include organic olives, Melton Mowbray pork pies, and fresh strawberries and cream – all part of Riverford’s newly launched organic picnic range.

Founded by Guy Watson, Riverford began in Devon in 1987, delivering to 30 local homes. Gradually word spread, and with it came the challenge of how to meet demand without compromising a commitment to local growing and employment, supporting local farmers and keeping a close link between grower and customer. The solution was to team up with sister farms who share the same ethos, growing and delivering to their local areas.

Riverford now delivers fresh organic produce to around 40,000 homes each week from its network of sister farms, including the farm at Sacrewell which was the very first in the network to be set up.

There is no need to book for Riverford’s 25th anniversary party; you can just turn up on the day.

To get to Riverford’s farm, head to Sacrewell Lodge Farm, Thornhaugh, Peterborough, PE8 6HJ. For sat-navs the best postcode to use is for the garage opposite the entrance: PE8 6LB. The entrance is the same entrance you would use to visit Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre. Once on the driveway follow the signs for Riverford.
