City Academy of Ballet

The City Academy of Ballet is delighted to be returning to the Key for their annual showcase.

The show will open with a lively Tarantella by senior students and then pupils from 4 years to adult will perform a variety of classical ballet, contemporary, national and character dances.

Beginners’ classes will be portraying the usual mixture of fairy stories and nursery rhymes, including this year Sing a Song of Sixpence, whilst older pupils will give their interpretation of ‘Carnival of the Animals’ to the music of Saint Saens and will also perform to excerpts from the musical ‘Oliver’.  Senior students will dance to the music of Mascagni and Tchaikovsky and will also portray Aesop’s fable of ‘The Wind and the Sun’ to music by from the Planet Suite by Holst.

The traditional classical finale will be followed by the presentation of certificates, medals and trophies awarded for examinations in ballet and contemporary dance taken throughout the year.
