Appropriately called More Than Travel, the independent business has been launched by husband and wife team Richard and Helen Dooley, who can boast over 25 years of experience in the industry. Their aim is to go above and beyond what a mainstream agency typically offers – the “two-week flop and drop” as Helen puts it – to offer the perfectly-tailored and individualised package. “Up until now, there has been a real hole in the market for clients that demand more – there are other good independent agents around the UK, but they are few and far between,” she continues.
Since opening in March, “we’ve enjoyed booking some really diverse holidays, everything from one night in a London hotel to a round-the-world cruise,” says Helen. “We’ve also organised a birthday party at the top of the Burj al Arab in Dubai and a fabulous kayaking trip around the Lycian coast.” But, stresses husband Richard, “It’s not all about high cost, it’s about high service and a diverse product range.”
Richard and Helen’s past history in the industry has allowed them to secure some great deals with partners; More Than Travel is a preferred partner for luxury tour and travel operator Kuoni and is also accredited by ACE (Association of Cruise Experts).
