Live for The Moment

What’s on | Editor’s pick – February 2015

↑ Would Mark Rylance (currently starring as Thomas Cromwell in the BBC's Wolf Hall) enjoy Peterborough Museum's At home with the Tudors day (Sunday, 1 February)? Well, he's already got the costume...

Absolutely historical
If the BBC’s luscious production of Wolf Hall is getting you in a 16th century kind of mood, then look no further than Peterborough Museum on Sunday, 1 February for a juicy, fat slice of life, Tudor-style. Meet Tudor characters such as the barber surgeon with his gruesome cures, mind your manners with a Tudor lady, handle arms and armour with Tudor soldiers or try some period food. A drop-in event, so there’s no need to pre-book. (Admission £3.50 adults, £2.50 concessions, £8 families, under 5s and Heritage Pass holders free.)

Leanin’ on a Lampost…
Although one may not ever become as proficient on the ukelele as the late, great George Formby, it’s still fun trying. Team up with The Palmerston Arms’s ukelele orchestra, which meets every Thursday at 8 pm, for some strings ‘n’ fine ale. Beginners (and George Formby fans) most welcome.

Boom boom!
Before Mr Bloom, before Justin Fletcher… there was Basil Brush. A 70s icon, now reinvigorated and with a brand new human friend, Mr Stephen, The Brush is back with plenty of songs, jokes and general silliness. All together now: boom boom!
