Vivacity Sports Announces New Refurbished Bicycle Scheme

Vivacity Culture and Leisure, in co-operation with Peterborough City Council and Travelchoice, is launching its own refurbished bicycle scheme to provide low income families and individuals in the city with affordable transport

The scheme, open to both adults and children, is funded by the Department of Transport, and allows applicants to obtain a free refurbished / second hand bicycle with a wide range of extras.

Based on successful and popular national projects in Cambridge and Newcastle upon Tyne, the new scheme aims to repair old bicycles and give them back to the community.

In addition to gaining a bicycle, free accessories will be provided as well, including a helmet, lights, a lock and repair kit, and a cycle map of Peterborough, perfect for those who need sustainable transport to get around the city.

Free training classes will also be given, including bicycle maintenance classes provided by established local company Green Wheel Cycles, as well as cycle training courses, which are compulsory for under 18s.

The Refurbished Bicycle Scheme to any family household earning under £20,000, any individual household earning under £12,000, or any unemployed individual who is actively seeking work.

If you want to apply, pick up an application pack at the Regional Fitness & Swimming Centre, or visit our website to complete the form online at www.vivacity-peterborough.com.
