Looking for something fun for the kids to do this summer? Whether you want to spend some quality time together or just need something to keep them occupied there are loads of activities to choose from that are engaging, inspiring and fun!

Romans Return to Longthorpe Tower

Longthorpe Tower
During the time of Boudicca’s uprising against the Roman army, the 9th Legion were defeated and forced to take refuge at Longthorpe fortress – a Roman stronghold. Now the Legion returns to the village for one weekend only! Meet soldiers from the Legion, discover the story of the Romans in Longthorpe and get hands on with arms and armour.
Tickets: £3 children, £4 adults, £10 families. ● No need to book, just drop in.

Archaeology Detectives
Tue 26 July, Tue 2 & Tue 9 August • 10.30am-12.30pm
Flag Fen
Get dig, dig, digging for clues at Flag Fen, learn about how Archaeologists make discoveries and become a historical super-sleuth.

Swizztastic Summer: Roald Dahl Events

Story times, chocolate crafts, animal madness and wonderacious wordsmithery abound as we celebrate the works of Roald Dahl and get creative on these brillerific event days.

Flag Fen
Take a walk on the wild side! Learn about the different plants & wildlife native to the Fenland area, hunt for clues and find out how different living things adapt to their surroundings.

Trenches, Trauma and Treatment: The Thomas Hunter Story

Learn how WW1 soldiers were treated at Peterborough Infirmary and learn about the journey of Thomas Hunter, whose ghost is purported to still haunt Peterborough Museum today.

Magical Kingdom – Children’s Workshop

Crazy Creatures!
Animal Handling with Lion Learners
Have you ever wanted to introduce children to the characters in books for real? Well this is your chance. Listen to a story or two, and then afterwards there will be a meet the animal session. Children get the chance to hold the animal featured in the book and ask questions. A wide range of animals will be coming along!
Lion Learners presenters are highly trained with a range of animal, environmental and teaching qualifications.
£3 per child, accompanied by an adult
Suitable for ages 4 and up

Children’s Holiday Club 2016
Monday 25th – Friday 29th July 2016
10am – 3pm (each day)*
Peterborough Cathedral
Ready for Rio? Join the Cathedral team for a week of Olympic-themed sports and craft. A 5-day summer holiday club for children aged 7-11 years.

Create your kit, mould your mascot, make some music, and much more as we celebrate and learn about the Cathedral, Jesus and His teammates.  So, get active, be noisy and have fun with us this summer.

The Holiday Club will be led by the Cathedral’s experienced team of DBS checked staff and volunteers. The cost is £50 per child for the whole week (bring a packed lunch). The price of the Holiday Club is subsidised by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

* A breakfast club and afternoon club will also be available.
