Burghley’s summer Film Fest is back!

Movie fans will be able to go Back To The Future and become Lord of the Rings without being Frozen when England’s greatest Elizabethan house plays host to a spectacular outdoor cinema again this summer

With Burghley House as the spectacular backdrop, five days and nights of fabulous films will transport cinemagoers from Middle Earth to the world of Mary Poppins – via the Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters and Some Like It Hot!

Burghley’s picturesque South Gardens in the grounds of the Lincolnshire Elizabethan house will again be transformed into a magical outdoor movie venue for the annual Film Festival, this year running from Wednesday, 29 July until Sunday, 2 August.

Launching the Festival will be a day devoted to the hugely successful Lord of the Rings trilogy, with all three movies being screened during Wednesday, 29 July. Thanks to separate pricing for each movie, Tolkien fans will be able to pick and choose, or see them all.

For the other four nights, double bill features offer the chance to see classics Pretty Woman and Some Like It Hot on Thursday, 30 July; Back to the Future and Ghostbusters on the Friday; Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery and The Blues Brothers on the Saturday; while The Imitation Game and Mr Turner close the Festival on the Sunday.

For families, children’s favourites during daytime screenings will include the Disney’s smash-hit Frozen, classics Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast as well as new movies Big Hero 6 and Paddington.

Early bird booking also offers a chance to save money – with a VERY early bird price of £8 adult and £4 children until 7 April. But if you miss that deadline, there are still savings to be made right through until the end of July. On the gate tickets will cost £14 and child tickets £7.
