Vivacity Culture and Leisure is delighted to announce the installation of Doug Cocker’s State of a Nation sculpture at Hampton Library and Leisure Centre

A major sculpture, Song of Sisyphus, was carved in Ferry Meadows and exhibited there for over 20 years. Much of his work reflects contemporary social and political issues, including State of a Nation created in 1986 which depicts a temple on rockers with a wrecking ball locked in the columns

State of a Nation will be part of Peterborough’s portfolio of sculptures which is one of the most impressive collections of works by British sculptors in the country.

Chief Executive for Vivacity Culture and Leisure, Kevin Tighe said, ‘We are delighted to celebrate the installation of this piece from the Vivacity sculpture portfolio at Hampton Library and Leisure Centre, and we look forward to the installation of further sculptures at sites across Peterborough to complement this impressive collection.’
