Case studies
Steven Wood, Cardiac Rehabilitation  – ‘Miracles do occur!’
‘I started on the Cardiac Rehabilitation Class following a ‘stent’ procedure for a blocked artery in July 2014. The classes are stress-free and the friendly professionals give guidance without pushing you too far. I could only do two or three star jumps last year and now I can do a whole minute’s worth, so miracles do occur! I have gradually changed from being a tired 62 year old to being reasonably fit for my age. I have lost over a stone in weight in just one year, I’m never out of breath and I generally feel far better about myself and the way I look. What is really important though is that I know my heart appreciates the workout.’

Giovanni Grammatica, Heart Failure – ‘Once you start you will love going…’
‘Having had heart failure I’ve struggled with shortness of breath, swelling and fatigue. I joined the Phase 4 Cardiac Class which is not only enjoyable, I’m also able to exercise at my own pace. I can now sleep flat and find I’m no longer breathless. I can now do gardening, housework and I have returned to a normal routine. My heart and breathing have improved greatly and I can now walk long distances, lift heavy objects and even run and sprint. The instructors are really supportive and the classes have a relaxing atmosphere with different exercises each week. Once you start you will love going.’

Anthony Curtin, Respiratory Support – ‘I would highly recommend the class.’
‘I have Emphysema and hardening of the arteries in the heart. The class is definitely beneficial, you can exercise at a level that suits you and I have gained a degree of fitness that I didn’t previously have. There is excellent professional support from the instructors, who help correct your technique so you get the most from each exercise. I would highly recommend the class to those with similar conditions. It makes you conscious of how important exercise is in your life, especially as you get older.’
